Learn With Impact

Founded in 2016, Nineteen Degrees draws on over 15 years of independent experience in community based tourism & development in Asia.

Our difference lies in the strong relationships we have formed over time and our focus on community led projects. We partner inclusively and ethically with like minded host communities, institutions, health centres, community organisations and schools in some of the most beautiful regions of Asia.

We have mutually agreed goals with our partners of achieving strong learning outcomes for Australian health students whilst supporting long-term capacity building of communities and local organisations through careful collaborative planning of community development projects. We ensure students are well prepared and informed prior to leaving Australia and display culturally competent communication with project stakeholders in the planning and delivery of primary health outreach and education.

Community Placements

We work in partnership with university health faculties to tailor-make international short term mobility placements in line with DFAT’s New Colombo Plan. We take the stress out of organising mobility programs and manage all risk, whilst ensuring students are well prepared and supported at all times of their experience.

Let’s explore our programs below.

We enable student learning

We love facilitating the engagement and community development project work between Australian student groups and our host communities and organisations in Asia. Students not only learn about the culture, their environment and themselves but are able to make a real impact on the project using skills learnt during their university studies and whilst on the ground. Before, during and after a program, students will be able to:

Work within a community development framework

Develop industry-ready skills through work integrated learning

Advocate for health literacy, social justice, equity and empowerment

Network with like-minded students and colleagues

Share knowledge and skills

Work in partnership with diverse population groups

Appreciate diversity and build cultural competence

Increase their awareness of global issues

Build confidence

Become work ready graduates
